Franciscan General Statutes

The General Constitutions and Statutes establish the fundamental principles and norms that guide the life of all friars throughout the world in accordance with the Rule. Every friar is called to observe these provisions faithfully and diligently.

Their faithful observance is essential for fostering fraternal communion and pursuing evangelical perfection according to the Franciscan way of life. The General Chapter is responsible for the declarative interpretation of the General Constitutions and Statutes, while their authentic interpretation remains reserved to the Holy See.
